Junior Leaders Cairn

Dear Mr Chairman

Firstly may I introduce myself, I am Mick Dobson President/Secretary of the JLRRE (Junior Leaders Regiment Royal Engineers) Branch REA.

As a Branch we are trying to raise funds to build a Cairn (memorial) within the garden of remembrance that is to be built within the grounds of Brompton Barracks. I am writing to ask if it would be possible to bring the attached letter below to the attention of your members, especially any ex Junior Leaders that you may have.

Some of our old comrades may be entitled.

First World War Railways

Boundless Productions are researching a series which explores the role the railways played in the First World War.
They would be really interested to hear from people who have connections with and stories about railwaymen who served during the Great War, or knowledge of anyone who attended any of the post-war battlefield pilgrimages of the 1920s.
Any advice or contacts gratefully received. Contact Boundless Productions by email: railwaysww1@boundlessproductions.tv

"The Chartered Surveyor/Sapper Club"

A dining club open to anyone who has served in the Royal Engineers or elsewhere in the Services, and who is also a Chartered Surveyor or a related professional.

The Club provides opportunities for those with an interest in military matters and in the wider survey profession, to meet and mix in amenable surroundings.  The social programme consists of a lunch, a dinner and an excursion each year.  Most functions are in Central London messes or clubs.

Anyone interested in joining the Club (which has raised over £40,000 for the Royal Engineers Museum since its foundation) should contact the Hon Sec, Martyn Kingsford at martyn.kingsford@blueyonder.co.uk
